Army Chief General Manoj Mukund Naravane on Monday visiting Jammu region to review the operational preparedness of troops deployed along the border with Pakistan, said officials.
The Amry Chief will be briefed by senior commanders on the security situation there, the officials added.
General Naravane visit comes amid unprovoked ceasefire violation by Pakistan along the Line of Control (LoC) in Nowshera sector of Rajouri district.
The ceasefire violation took place by firing small arms and shelling with mortars at 19:30 hours on Sunday, said Army officials. The Indian troops also retaliated and the cross-border firing at Nowshera sector of Rajouri, and Kirni and Qasba sectors of Poonch was going on when last reports were received, the officials said.
